Counting down to #BeActive #LetsIDUS

August 20, 2020 | EUSA

Today marks start of the one-month countdown to the International Day of University Sport, which is celebrated world-wide on September 20. Proclaimed by UNESCO on the initiative of FISU, this initiative promotes sport in higher education and all its values. The European Week of Sport will be celebrated September 23-30 across the continent.

This year, due to covid-19, safety measures and restrictions, celebrations will vary, but the International University Sports Federation (FISU), along with Continental and National University Sport Associations invite the students, universities, sports organisations and other supporters to join the global initiative by organising events, or take part in them, be it virtually or live.

In Europe, International Day of University Sport and the #letsidus campaign is encouraged to be celebrated in synergy with the European Week of Sport and the #beactive campaign, focusing on promoting physical activity – also and especially among the student population.

EUSA will celebrate both 3-fold. An online #myeusa campaign was already launched last month, inviting users to submit photos of being active. We will also be celebrating and supporting events with its members – national university sports associations, especially in Ukraine and Hungary, where special events are being planned. Last, but not least, the EUSA staff, volunteers and the rest of the EUSA family will demonstrate how we can be active.

Please note that resources, guidelines and graphical elements are available online at the official websites of the campaigns:

#BeActive – European Week of Sport: https://ec.europa.eu/sport/week_en

We kindly ask you to use the NEW logos and designs of the campaigns, use the official hashtags #LetsIDUS and #BeActive when doing social media posts, if possible also tagging @eusaunisport, @fisu and @eusport so your content can be directly shared on social media. We will also be contacting you with a request to send a short summary of the activities after they are carried out, along with photos, graphics and/or videos.

Please note that the activities can also take place outside the official dates of the events. We recommend carrying them out between mid September to mid October, so they can be collated and your good example practices shared.

Stay safe, #BeActive and #LetsIDUS with #MyEusa!
