Tereza Korvasová z pražské Dukly dosáhla výhrou v časovce na Akademickém mistrovství světa v silniční cyklistice životního úspěchu. V portugalské Braze si dojela v závodu časovce jednotlivců pro titul mistryně světa. Na kolo přitom přestoupila relativně nedávno, dříve běhala. Tereza je také několikanásobnou mládežnickou mistryní republiky v atletice a 21. června 2016 se stala mistryní ČR v časovce.

Reprezent​antka České republiky a závodnice silničního kontinentálního týmu žen pražské Dukly se v portugalské Brage stala akademickou mistryní světa v silniční časovce jednotlivců.

 

Úřadující česká šampionka v této disciplíně zvítězila před polskou závodnicí Larchovou a Němkou Dietrichovou.

„Doufám, že to není první a poslední medaile tady,“ řekla v cíli s úsměvem studentka Politologie univerzity T.G. Masaryka v Brně, která se představí také v silničním závodě jednotlivců.

2018 WUC Cycling: Day 1

 

The first day of competition is over. The city of Braga was the first stage for the Time Trial. More than 50 athletes marked presence.

In the female competition, which featured 19 athletes, the 18km were won by Tereza Korvasová, of the Czech Republic. The podium was closed with the polish Marta Lach and the german Jaqueline Dietrich.

In the men’s race, australian Liam Magennis was the big winner, with more than 40 seconds ahead of Piotr Konwa, of Poland. The bronze medal went to the cypriot Andreas Miltiadis. The race of 27 km had 36 athletes from various nationalities.

The protocol ceremony was attended by the President of the Organising Committee, Nuno Reis, the Member of the Commission of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Member of the Medical Commission of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and Vice President of Academic University Sports Federation (FADU).

Tereza Korvasová win the gold medal

 

Teresa Korvasová was the winner of the Female Time-Trial of 2018 WUC Cycling, in Braga. Representing Czech Republic, Tereza finished her trial with a record time of 25:48,38. This time was good enough to guarantee the highest place on the podium for the representative of Czech Republic.

Korvasová was surprised by the victory. „I was hoping for a medal, but I did not think I could win.“ The Czech woman points out that the trajectory did not match her characteristics, considering she is considered a mountain biker. As for the 2018 WUC Cycling, Teresa believes that the atmosphere of this type of competition is peculiar and that the relaxed atmosphere between organization and athletes makes this event a unique experience. „This competition is a lot about fun. Friendships are made and I like it”, he added. After this achievement, the athlete said she will rest for a while and only then will return to the competitions.

In the remaining podium places, Lach (Poland) took second place with 26:09.13 and Dietrich (Germany) secured the third with 26:24.72. The portuguese Soraia Silva finished the race with 28:19.77, guaranteeing the ninth place of the race.
